One interesting aspect is that China is engaging in economic imperialism and exploitation similar to the habits of the US.

Also, much of the US' economic weakness these days is due to Reagan/Bush/Clinton/Bush policies. Changes in those policies could change the situation dramatically.

Well, I think I should've been more clear:
When the 6.30 news rolls along and a reporter is on air trying to talk about human rights in China, and there's that thing lurking behind him/her, the whole thing just seems a bit contrived.

This post was supposed to be a tad satirical.

But putting this aside, HK's media (I think a survey of the major paper's editorials would show this) has been increasingly pro-establishment in recent years (esp. after the Tibet backlash) and there are problems of excessive patriotism--all of which, if at a high enough dosage, could be fatal.

PS. I'd love to come over, if you'd let me stay at your place...and who knows what could happen...

You think all the TV stations in HK should do ZERO Olympic promotion prior to the Olympics, and just air the events in August? And you call them uber-nationalist for airing Olympic promotions?

I think you should come to the US and checkout how it's done by NBC. I don't see much difference, except NBC starts Olympic promotions much earlier. Each sporting event that they show years prior to the Olympics will have the Olympic logo. Nobody is calling them uber-nationalist.

I think you are the one who's overboard...
